The Floyd County Police Department has charged a Clayton County man with the March shooting of a South Rome resident. The crime is gang related and has been charged as an offense according to the state’s street gang statute.
Stephen Rasheed Miller, 21, of Riverdale, has been charged with aggravated assault with intent to commit murder, aggravated battery and participation in a criminal street gang. He is commonly known as Monster and was earlier pictured in media as an unknown person of interest connected to this incident.
Miller is currently serving a state sentence at a Department of Corrections facility for another offense from Morrow Georgia.
The investigation was a joint effort by the Floyd County Police Department and Rome City Police Department on behalf of the victim Willie Stubbs.
Stubbs, 26, was shot during an altercation on March 16 near his former residence on South Broad Street. He survived the incident.
The Stubbs shooting was sparked from an event that occurred the night before at the Chevy Club involving members of the “Blood” street gang.
County police investigated a murder at that location a month later that also involved “Blood” members. An arrest was made in that incident and is awaiting indictment of Randy Clowers.
